Leadership used to be about making the right decision. Today it’s often about choosing from several imperfect ones.

Leaders often succeeded, or were rewarded, by developing strengths such as clarity, certainty, control, resilience and decisiveness. Today these strengths have become over used creating blind spots. Thinking has become narrow, decisions are based on what was learned and brought success in the past. Generational differences and tension have amplified with younger generations placing value on other elements such as authenticity, transparency, integrity, speed, flexibility and sound mental health.

Leaders rarely said they didn’t know. Being certain was a requirement. Today being certain is an impossibility. It’s about trying, failing, learning, agility, speed and having the humility and the courage of trusting others to be the decision makers.

It’s often easier to simplify, push forward, move on, put the blinkers on and narrow the focus.

1. Assessment: a rigorous diagnostic combining a self-assessment, a 360 narrative and in depth interviews in order to identify not just strengths and gaps, but internal tensions and blind spots. Assessment pillars include: awareness, emotional capacity, thinking quality, relational presence and leadership impact.

2. Integration: working at the level of identity, patterns and hidden assumptions.

3. Transformation: Focusing on behavioural shifts and developmental movement. Transformational pillars include: doubt, perspective, values, complexity and wholeness.

4. Measurement: Focusing on perception through 360 feedback, observable behaviour shifts and internal clarity.
